A new home for H&L in Ann Arbor.

H&L Dance’s new Ann Arbor rehearsal studio is scheduled to open in late August 2026 — a brighter, more spacious environment for daily training, rehearsals and community growth.

Huiling Tan 谭慧玲

Since beginning her professional career in 1996, Huiling Tan has devoted more than three decades to dance performance, conservatory-level teaching, curriculum development, choreography, adjudication and arts education.

PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATION IN CHINA

Teaching, leadership, research & professional service

Her China career included frontline teaching in Chinese classical dance fundamentals, folk dance, shenyun, technique and rehearsal; leadership of a fundamentals teaching-and-research group; dance-grading examination work; university teaching; arts education leadership; major productions; research publications; and long-term adjudication service.

2022 · A NEW CHAPTER IN THE UNITED STATES

In 2022, Tan immigrated to the United States through the EB-1 category and began her U.S. teaching career.

OUR NEW ANN ARBOR STUDIO

Space to train. Space to grow.

The new rehearsal studio is designed around daily dance training: sprung-style dance flooring, expansive mirrors, fixed and portable barres, sound equipment, training mats and a small waiting area.

FROM STUDIO TO STAGE

Learning continues beyond the classroom.
